The trellis had to pattern match down the entire 4 floors of the high end property in London’s Chelsea. Rosemount were approached by Loomah Carpets and rugs to undertake a site survey and come up with a solution in order to achieve the demanding design requirements of this project.
Very early on in the build process Rosemount carried out a site survey of the Bedrooms and family rooms etc but was unable to take dimensions of any of the staircases as they at this time did not exist. It soon became clear that they would not exist until much later on in the build process.
Due to the long lead time of handmade carpets it was not an option to wait, the carpet needed to be ordered and put into production immediately so to hit deadlines and handover the building to the client for moving in day.
Rosemount requested 1 mock up of the straight and 1 mock up of the winding step be formed to the exact dimensions of the proposed steps. From this, a template was taken of both and later worked on back on Rosemount’s cutting floor facility which produced 4 final templates of the non existing staircases.
From this the carpet went into production. The carpet was made and installed in one piece per flight allowing the trellis design to flow down and around the stairs without compromising any of the pattern matching to either the trellis or the floral design. This all in one piece process of manufacture and install has now been executed on many other installations by Rosemount Flooring UK LTD and has helped eradicate mismatching of design, whatever it may be allowing designers to achieve their visions more easily.
